4/1-4/5

Dear Parents,

I really just cannot believe that we only have 11 school days left before the end of 2nd grade, and yet so much more to accomplish before the end. We have 3 more Classical reads to get through, several more math units, and more space exploration. This week, we are also introduced to the Magna Carta, which was ultimately part of the foundation for the U.S. Constitution. What an important topic! It should make for great discussions at home and at school.

I hope everyone enjoys the school holiday on Monday!

Blessings,

Mrs. Poncy

Important info:

Geography: Now that the Southeast Asia map has been assessed, we're moving onto Asia! Please check your child's binder to make sure they have this map, and if they don't, I'll send one home.

Science: We'll be using the science book, Glow in the Dark Constellations in the classroom and at home. Please have your child bring this book to class on school days. The pictures glow in the dark within the book! On Wednesday, I will give them a Night Sky Journaling page. They will look for these constellations in the night sky. I think they will enjoy this!

Reading: We'll start Marco Polo this week. If your child struggles in reading, this is a great book to monitor their comprehension by asking them what each page is about before they move on to the next page.

Math: I will be sending home one page each of both addition and subtraction facts. Put these in a sheet protector and have your child practice doing these on homeschool days as quickly as they can! Set a timer for 5 minutes and see how many they can do! We want these to be memorized before the end of 2nd.
