3/2-3/6

Dear Parents,

I am so excited to share that 2nd grade has been invited to join MDO on March 4th for a Wild Zoo Safari demonstration in the fellowship hall! We will join MDO at 10:00 am on Wednesday to see exotic animals such as bearded dragons, kangaroo/wallabys, foxes, lemurs, etc. It should be a great (and educational) time!

This academic quarter is wrapping up and quarter 4 is almost upon us. The year is going by too fast! This week, we are wrapping up our money unit before Spring break and then moving on to fractions when we return.

Have a wonderful homeschool week!

Blessings,

Mrs. Poncy

2/24-2/28

Dear Parents,

I was so impressed last week with how well the students are doing in the memorization of their multiplication facts! Knowing these facts will be the balm to the harder challenge of long division next year. The students have been enjoying our money unit. I love seeing how excited they get to count their pretend coins and cash!

This week we have a big assessment day on Wednesday (Catechism #36-50 and Quarter 3 poem) and don't forget it is also Pizza and Spirit day! It should be a great week!

Blessings in Christ,

Mrs. Poncy

This assignment will be counted as a participation grade.

2/17-2/21

Dear Parents,

I know with Spring break coming up in a month, it's easy to look ahead and just be ready for a nice long break, but we can do this! It reminds me of Galatians 6:9,  ("Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.")

I hope everyone has a wonderful homeschool week, and I am personally praying for warmer weather and MORE sun! :)

Blessings in Christ,

Mrs. Poncy

Important Info:

Math: This week I have included Learning Task numbers in the math lesson box so you know to only do those questions in the textbook pages! This is explicit in the HIG, but I wanted to include it in the plans.  Please see my email about our new unit on money we are starting. Also, we are skipping quite a few multiplication and division reviews, but we will spiral these in. We have to move on or we will not finish our Singapore math curriculum before end of year.

Spelling Support: This week we are focusing on the ed ending. If you would like to support your child in spelling even more, you can have them read OPG 214, which will give them an opportunity to read that suffix in written text.
