3/25-3/29

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a great week getting back into the swing of things! It was SO good to see all the kids and get back to our normal classroom rhythm.  Also, Quarter 3 is behind us. That went fast!

Now that we are finished with the OPG book, we can spend more time finishing the several classical books we have left and reading more. This week, we are moving on to another picture book, Francis, The Poor Man of Assisi. This book could not be a better example of humility, because Assisi's life was one of submission and great devotion to God.

I'm very excited for the week ahead!

In Christ,

Mrs. Poncy

Important info:

Reading:
This week, your child will need to bring their Assisi book to class. These picture books move fast!

Science: We are starting a new science poem this week, "Life Cycle of  a Star." I will send this home in binders. I think the students are going to really enjoy this one.

Math: We are starting an important measurement unit in math at the end of the week, Capacity. I have found that students learn this form of measurement best when they get to learn this hands-on. If the HIG suggests filling jars with water, pouring and allowing the student to feel the weight of the filled containers with their hands, and to see it up close, its important not to skip over it.

Memory Work: The Southeast Asia map is due this coming Wed. Please review the map before WED.

Spelling: Just a friendly reminder to turn in the phonogram assessment this week! Thanks!
