Week 16 11/28- 12/4

Math-You may have noticed we have finished with Singapore Dimensions A.  Students don't need to bring their workbook or textbook for the last two weeks of the semester.  We'll be doing a fair amount of review, but I'll have copies for the students.  Most of what we're doing we will start in class and then they'll finish and correct at home.  The final day of school before the break we will be doing a Mid-Year Assessment and (hint, hint) it is very similar to what they'll bring home this week so be sure and review any problems students miss.

Science-This week we'll be doing a fun lab where we taste and classify (based on their features) fleshy fruits.  The foods we'll be tasting are: blueberries, oranges, apples, watermelon and raw almonds.  If your student can't have any of those (or you prefer them not to) please let me know.

Phonograms - Students will be given a phonogram and a sounds assessment the end of 2nd quarter just as we did at the end of 1st quarter. You can find all of the phonograms in your handbook. I will be giving the assessments on Thursday 11/30 and Tuesday 12/5.

History - The timeline assessment is cumulative covering quarters 1 and 2 people and events.

Christmas Celebration- We'll be having our class Christmas party the Thursday we let out of school, December 7th.  A sign up will be going out shortly (or might already have by the time you see this!) and we will also be doing a classical book exchange.  Please have your student bring an age appropriate, wrapped classical book to exchange.

As I've mentioned before, unfortunately, due to a previous commitment I won't be at school on Thursday 12/7 or Tuesday 1/9. But fortunately, we will have Mrs. Lafferty for at least Thursday 12/7. Although I will miss being with the students the last day before Christmas, the day will go seamlessly with Mrs. Lafferty there!
