12/2-12/6

Dear Parents,

I hope you and your child had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I am looking forward to seeing all of them on Monday and finishing these last two weeks strong. We will be really working this week on word problem strategies in math and getting a lot of practice in differentiating whether or not a word problem is asking us to multiply or divide in a word problem. We are also beginning a new classical book this week, The Minstrel in the Tower. It should be a wonderful week!

Blessings in Christ,

Mrs. Poncy

Important info:

Dear Parents,

When thinking upon this year's upcoming Thanksgiving, I can't help but be very very thankful for each of your children and your partnership in this model! Each family is committed to this partnership, and it really, really shows. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and that you are able to rest and have wonderful fellowship with God, family, and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mrs. Poncy

Multiplication/Division Bar Models:  I will be introducing the Multiplication/Division bar model this week, and I will be sending home a sheet that has examples on it that can help you reinforce at home. I have spoken to the 3rd grade teacher about how she teaches these particular bar models, and she has students set them up visually in such a way that it will help them differentiate whether in the word problems they will multiply or divide. Please have your child practice drawing them, and it doesn't have to be perfect starting out.

11/11-11/15

Dear Parents,

Just a couple more school weeks before Thanksgiving break! I know we are all excited about that. ;) I am looking forward to seeing the Earth advertisement projects that your child worked on this last week. Each student will get to walk through and observe their peers' work on Monday. These will be displayed in the Foyer the week of Nov 18-22, so please stop by at some point and look at all our fabulous work!

Also, this month's Co-teacher training is this coming Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 9-10 am in the sanctuary. The session will be presented by Carol Brazill (Professional Development Coordinator) and Kristi Martin (Team Coordinator/Academic Support Coordinator). The topic is summarizing and how to use this skill across different subjects!

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Poncy

Important info:

"How All Things Praise the Lord": Your child probably told you by now, but each student has been assigned a part for our Thanksgiving performance of, "How All Things Praise the Lord!" We have been rehearsing a few minutes in class each school day, but please have them rehearse their lines at home as well.

Math Facts Assessment: The 2s and 3s x tables will be assessed on 11/18. These will be assessed unordered, so they will not be in order when students take the assessment. Please continue to practice at home until these are fluent.

Asia Map: Everyone did such a great job on their Middle East map! The next one we will memorize is the Asia Map; I will send home a new map that is in order to match the order of the words in the song.
