9/9-9/13

Dear Parents,

I was so impressed with how quickly the students caught on to renaming last week in math! This is our last week of focusing on renaming in addition, and then we move on to subtraction and eventually borrowing across zeroes. Next week, we will start our next classical read, Leif the Lucky. The illustrations in this book are beautiful! Your child will need to bring this book to class each school day starting next week. I will email a reminder.

Don't forget Picture Day is September 16th! Looking forward to another wonderful week!

Blessings,

Mrs. Poncy

Important info:

Bible: Please remember to read the assigned scripture passages with your child on homeschool days so that we can dive deeper into discussion on school days! You can even do this before bedtime if that fits better with your day's rhythm! Our new classroom virtue this month is responsibility, and we will be talking about what God says about being responsible during our Bible time.

Middle East Map: The Middle East Map will require consistent review. There are many countries to memorize! If you find your child is really struggling with this map, consider chunking the map into sections and using different colors to help them memorize one section at a time.

Westminster Catechism: The Westminster Catechism will be assessed by students answering in response to the questions. They do not have to memorize the actual questions.

Word Wall Folders: I will be sending home Word Wall Folders on Monday. This a folder for your child that has an alphabet inside where they can record their spelling words, and any commonly misspelled words you find they consistently misspell when writing in either of their journals at home. These stay at home and can be used as a tool for writing.
