Dear Parents,
When we finished our first
Boxcar Children book as a class, we were all so sad it was over that the class begged to read the next one. So,
Surprise Island it is! A new season (Fall..
ish) also calls for a new Math Unit, Measurement. Gather your measuring tape, a ruler and also string, because all of us need these materials next week to teach the kiddos.
Have a wonderful week! :)
Mrs. Poncy
Important info: Math: This week we are focusing on measuring length in centimeters and meters as well as the words a
bout and e
stimate. We want them to understand
about how long a meter is, and which objects are shorter or longer than a meter. We are introducing the students to measuring curved lengths. We are also teaching them this week to measure from the 0 cm mark on a ruler. Depending on the ruler, it may not be the
actual edge of the ruler.
Binder organization: Please spend some time this week cleaning out your child's binder since Quarter 1 has come to an end. All graded papers or completed assignments from Quarter 1 can be filed at home. Thank you for your help in ensuring your child stays organized.
Key Dates: I am in the process of creating a jingle for the next 5 History Key Dates. Hopefully, this will make it more palatable for practicing these in class and at home. I will email you the jingle when I am finished writing it. (Pray God gives me the words... and the tune!)
