Dear Parents,

Just a couple more school weeks before Thanksgiving break! I know we are all excited about that. ;) I am looking forward to seeing the Earth advertisement projects that your child worked on this last week. Each student will get to walk through and observe their peers' work on Monday. These will be displayed in the Foyer the week of Nov 18-22, so please stop by at some point and look at all our fabulous work!

Also, this month's Co-teacher training is this coming Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 9-10 am in the sanctuary. The session will be presented by Carol Brazill (Professional Development Coordinator) and Kristi Martin (Team Coordinator/Academic Support Coordinator). The topic is summarizing and how to use this skill across different subjects!

Important info: 

"How All Things Praise the Lord": Your child probably told you by now, but each student has been assigned a part for our Thanksgiving performance of, "How All Things Praise the Lord!" We have been rehearsing a few minutes in class each school day, but please have them rehearse their lines at home as well.

Math Facts Assessment: The 2s and 3s x tables will be assessed on 11/18. These will be assessed unordered, so they will not be in order when students take the assessment. Please continue to practice at home until these are fluent.

Asia Map: Everyone did such a great job on their Middle East map! The next one we will memorize is the Asia Map; I will send home a new map that is in order to match the order of the words in the song.

Dear Parents,

All the costumes looked so adorable for Historical dress-up day! Even though it was a short school week, I enjoyed getting to spend time with them on Wednesday and look forward to a full week ahead. I can't believe it's already November! I guess the saying is true, "Time flies when you're having fun!" Thank you for being such a great group of co-teachers. All the children are always so prepared in class.

Important info: 

Math: This week the students need to start memorizing their 2s and 3s X tables. These will be assessed before our Thanksgiving holiday! Your child should have a multiplication table in their binder, and you can always make flashcards or buy them to reinforce/practice.

Science: We do 2 Second-grade projects a year, and one of them is going to be the Earth advertisement assignment that comes up in the Apologia journal this coming week. I will send home a sheet that details what to include on the advertisement and the due date. I look forward to seeing all the student's creativity!

Geography: The Middle East Map is due this coming Wednesday, 11/6.  Please review the day before, and we will also review Wednesday morning before they take the map assessment.

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone enjoys the student holiday on Monday and the cooler temperatures that have come upon us. Even though we live in Texas and the seasons can be milder than other states, I still look forward to discussing the science behind our seasons, and all the perfect ways God really thought about how our planet would undergo change.

I also look forward to seeing all the Ancient Rome and Middle Ages costumes on October 30th for historical dress-up day. I find it so precious to see all the little medieval characters that trickle into my classroom the morning of!

Important info:

Math: This week we are starting multiplication and division, but focusing on the concept of it; the memorization of the actual facts will come later once we have established that multiplication is repeated addition, and division is sharing equally among groups. Also, please remember to do the HIG lessons that call for hands-on practice using objects. They really  need the hands-on activities to learn these skills well.
